Working Areas

Covering 11 districts ( Khurdha, Nayagargh, Boudh, Kandhamal,Balasore,Sambalpur,Kalahandi, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur and Malkangiri) out of total 30 districts )of Odisha in India reaching out to  over 35,000 marginalized and resource poor households

Target Group: Madhyam Foundation  works with small and marginal tribal women farmers, women and forest dependent communities. The target group may broadly be classified as primarily survival and to a limited extent subsistence-oriented and lack access to critical resources like land, labour and credit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Working Approaches:


Breaking the isolation of the poor through creating and building alternative, exclusive organizational spaces for them( Self help groups, Producer co-operatives) and strengthening their collective bargaining power vis-à-vis Government, Local self Government, banks, market etc

Enhancing productivity of assets and labour through improving quality of land, creating access to water resources,, access to inputs( credit and appropriate technology) and improving skills and capacities of the poor through technical and participatory managerial training

Improving exchange options of the poor, avoiding distress sale of agri-produces and reducing vulnerability
